Technology Modeling
Improved Visibility
Technology Modeling enables organizations to map the interdependencies of critical IT applications and systems from hardware to end user, understanding the capabilities and vulnerabilities inherent in those dependencies.
Similar to a configuration management database (CMDB), eBRP Suite's Technology Modeling feature can store and keep track of the complex web of hardware, software, databases, networks, storage, applications and infrastructure that delivers information to the business processes that perform the vital functions on which your organization relies.
Unlike the traditional CMDB, eBRP Suite extends the asset modeling to bridge IT Services to the business processes thus providing end-to-end visibility.
Designed to be compliant with ITIL Service Management concepts, eBRP Suite's Technology Modeling supports virtualization of servers, networks and storage.
With or Without a CMDB
If your organization does not use a configuration management database then eBRP Suite's Technology Modeling feature can be used to capture IT asset-related data as well as document standard operating procedures (SOP) found scattered in spreadsheets, databases, lists, hardcopy forms or no where at all. Often the information lies solely in the experience and heads of key IT personnel. Technology Modeling allows you to organize information and perform analysis. Information can be output into tabular and graphical reports that support both disaster recovery planning and day-to-day operations.
Technology Modeling catalogues:
- Hardware (from mainframes to servers) by location - imported from external sources where it is currently maintained. Supports Virtual Server environments
- Software - assigns instances to the hardware on which they are mounted
- Databases - where information is stored with details on the software and hardware they employ
- Networks - where information is transmitted
- Applications - to gain an understanding of the hardware, software, databases and networks they rely on
- IT Services - supporting ITsm concept, business processes can be mapped to services
- Storage - capture details of centralized virtualized storage sub-system.
Toolkit's Technology Modeling can even help create mapping of your IT operations down to the individual rack level.
All the configuration information can be viewed in graphical and tabular reports making it easy to realize the dependence on underlying components from the level of systems and applications.
